Day 1 : Saturday 6 October

Excursion to Toledo

From 10:00 till 18:00

Toledo Toledo is situated 1 hour away from Madrid, in central Spain. Declared as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1986, Toledo is the city of three cultures. Indeed most of its monuments were built in the Middle Ages under the influence of the Christian, Arab and Jewish Cultures. Toledo was also the capital of the ancient Visigothic Kingdom of Hispania and before that it was an important Roman colony and the capital of Carpentia. On this tour in the fortified city, you'll discover one of Spain's most magnificent treasures. Horseshoe-arched mosques, Sephardic synagogues and Gothic cathedrals are on the programme. You'll explore the narrow streets of Toledo, walk in front of building with Islamic influences and visit the most important places of this medieval city.

Sightseeing of the City Center of Madrid

Madrid Located in the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula, Madrid is a cosmopolitan city that combines modernity with culture and arts. Indeed with its important century, Madrid has a rich heritage and on this tour, you'll get the chance to learn most of it. In the capital of Spain, you'll walk through the emblematic monuments of Madrid like the Plaza Mayor square. The central plaza of Madrid was built on the field of the old Plaza del Arrabal where the most frequented market of the city was taking place. In 1617, the architect Juan Gómez de Mora was asked to create a greater uniformity amongst the buildings which has hosted for centuries the court and all the related activities. On the rest of the tour, you'll will also see the Puerta del Sol, the Almueda Cathedral, the Royal Palace, the Mercado San Miguel...

Class of Flamenco

From 14:00 till 17:30

Flamenco Flamenco is a Spanish art form made of three parts: the guitar playing, the song and the dance. If Flamenco originated from the south of Spain, it was influenced by other cultures, like Latin American and Cuban traditions. In the past, Flamenco was only singing and clapping of hands and with the time the guitars and other instruments became more and more popular in the modern flamenco. Now classes exist to learn this art but before that Flamenco was passed down from friends, relatives and neighbors. Flamenco dancers try to express their deepest emotions by using body movements and facial expressions. They also clap their hands or kick their feet during their performance. Most of the dancers use small percussion, handheld instruments called "castanets"". This class will take care in a Flamenco school with professional dancers.

Visit of the Prado Museum

From 9:30 till 12:00

Prado Museum Located along the Paseo del Arte, the "Art Walk"", the Prado Museum is one of the greatest art galleries in the world. With a collection of more than 8,600 paintings and 700 sculptures, you'll get the chance to see masterpieces of Francisco Goya, or Hieronymus Bosch, El Greco, Peter Paul Rubens, Titian, Diego Velázquez,... The Prado Museum is open since 1819 in the building that was initially designed to be the Natural History Cabinet. Thanks to the determination of Isabella of Braganza, the wife of Kind Ferdinand VII, she managed to install there an important part of the royal collections. The impressive collection of the museum is the result of years and years of private donations and acquisitions.

Cooking Class

Cooking Class Spaniards love their food. They eat several times a day: breakfast, tapas, lunch, late afternoon snack, dinner and after dinner are on the menu of one day. Tapas are the most famous symbol of the culinary culture of Spain around the world. They vary from region to region and season to season. Thousands of different tapas exist, Spaniards are used to go from one bar to another to taste wine and take one tapas at each stop. People of Spain love to take their time when they eat, a lunch can last more than an hour and a half. They usually end their day with a light dinner around 9 p.m. In this class you'll get the chance to discover traditional dishes of Spain like the paella, the tortilla or gazpacho.

Royal Palace of Madrid Guided Tour

From 9:30 till 12:00

Royal Palace The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, but is only used for official ceremonies. The place was first built when Madrid, call Magerit at that time, was a site for a fortress to protect Toledo from the advancing Christians. It was then used by the Kings of Castille, then become the Antiguo Alcázar, the Old Fortress in the 14th Century. It was then turned into the permanent residence of the Spanish Royal Family. In 1734, the Palace burnt down and the construction of the actual palace was ordered. In 1755, the building was over and Charles III became the first monarch to occupy it. The palace houses more than 3,000 rooms, a painting gallery and a royal Armoury. You'll get the occasion to discover all its treasures with this guided tour.
